Chrome Achieves Speed Milestone Over Safari on Mac

Chrome has reached a new speed milestone with the M99 release, achieving a score of 300 in Apple's Speedometer browser responsiveness benchmark, making it the fastest browser to date on Mac. Chrome has become 7% faster than current builds of Safari, with graphics performance seen to be 15% faster. ThinLTO, a build optimization technique, is responsible for the speed bump, inlining speed-critical parts of the code base, and has improved overall speed since launching Chrome on M1-based Macs. Chrome also reduced startup time on Android by 13% using Freeze-Dried Tabs and improved speed and memory usage using Isolated Splits.

Chrome Continues to Prioritize Speed in Browsing Experience

Chrome's focus on speed since its launch in 2008 has continued through the M99 release, providing the fastest possible experience without compromising on feature functionality or security. Chrome continues to invest in innovative performance improvements, pushing the envelope of what's possible in modern computing. While benchmarks are just one way of measuring browsing speed, Chrome's goal is to ensure that the browser is faster and more efficient in everyday usage.
