New Modes for Debugging and Profiling:

  • Streamlining how modes are found and switched between
  • Introducing two new agent-powered tools: Profiler agent and Debugger agent

Supporting Customization via Modes:

  • Integrating workflows across development stack into Visual Studio
  • Custom modes for Copilot Chat Model Context Protocol (MCP) enabled in all modes

Agent Mode/Chat:

  • Improvements in performance, visibility, and functionality
  • Enhancements in Agent Mode tool and Chat
  • Expansion of features such as project memories, planning, and instruction file support

Model Context Protocol (MCP):

  • Strengthening support for development stack integration
  • Introducing new capabilities such as GitHub Copilot native support and Bring Your Own Key support

Azure Agentic DevOps:

  • Bringing agentic workflows and Azure-native capabilities into Visual Studio
  • Features such as 1P Azure MCP installation and Publishing/CI/CD support for Azure App Service

Editor Improvements:

  • Copilot-powered code completions and suggestions in the editor
  • Enhancements in Copilot suggestions, keyboard shortcuts, and synthetic text usage

Experiences:

  • Enhancing Copilot availability throughout the development workflow
  • Improving features for code completion, error fixing, unit testing, and version control
